Sabres Daily: Archibald Out, Motte In With Lightning; PTO Tracker
NHL clubs are putting the final touches to their rosters about a week before the opening of training camp, but most of late summer machinations involve inviting players to camp on professional tryouts. On Friday, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced that they would be terminating the contract of forward Josh Archibald. The 30-year-old signed a two-year, $1.6 million deal with the Lightning as an unrestricted free agent after playing last season with Pittsburgh, but GM Julien BriseBois indicated that Archibald informed the club that he was not planning on playing hockey for the time being.
With Archibald being placed on unconditional waivers, the Lightning filled his roster spot by signing former NY Rangers forward Tyler Motte to a one-year, $800,000 contract.
