Sabres Daily: Is Kane Going To Detroit?; Lineup Projections

Published

on

The NHL season will have a number of ongoing evolving stories to track starting with the opening of training camps in a couple of weeks. One story that will not have a conclusion until well into the regular season will be the landing spot of three-time Cup winner Patrick Kane. Kane is currently rehabbing after off-season hip resurfacing surgery and is expected to be ready to play by December or January.

Detroit Hockey Now’s Kevin Allen wrote on Monday about rumors that Kane may be headed to the Red Wings to reunite with former linemate Alex DeBrincat but admits that while playing with DeBrincat would be a motivating factor, it is just as likely that the winger would prefer to play for a club that at this point is a contender.

Sabres In Case You Missed It

An interesting lineup projection from NHL.com’s Sabres preseason preview. On defense, Buffalo’s top pairing is not surprisingly Mattias Samuelsson and Rasmus Dahlin, but the second pairing is projected as being Owen Power and free agent addition Connor Clifton when many suspect at least early in the season that Power will be paired with the other free agent acquisition, Cup winner Erik Johnson.
