Sabres Daily: Zegras Bridging?; Prospect Watch

Owen Power’s contract status is something that the Buffalo Sabres are focused on, but they have time since the Calder Trophy nominee has a year left on his entry-level contract. The Anaheim Ducks still have not been able to get restricted free agent center Trevor Zegras signed, likely because they would prefer to get him signed to a long-term deal as the Sabres want to do with Power. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast, it is looking more like Zegras and the Ducks will agree to a short-term bridge deal in the coming days.

The KHL season started last week and Sabres prospect Prokhor Poltapov got off to a quick start, scoring a goal in CSKA Moscow’s victory over the Vladivostok Admirals. Poltapov, selected with the first pick in the second round of the 2021 Draft, had five goals for CSKA in 56 games last season.
