Sabres Daily: Kassian Signs PTO With Ducks; Kessel Holding On

Published

on

Former Buffalo Sabres first-rounder Zack Kassian is hoping to continue to NHL career after being banished by Edmonton as a salary dump to Arizona last summer. The 32-year-old winger, selected 13th overall by Buffalo in 2009 before being traded to Vancouver in 2012 for Cody Hodgson, scored just twice in 51 games with the Coyotes during the 2022-23 season. Kassian signed a professional tryout with the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. The Ducks have been focused on adding experience and toughness to protect some of their young core players, signing defenseman Radko Gudas, and forward Alex Killorn, and trading with the Buffalo Sabres for blueliner Ilya Lyubushkin.

Kessel Holding On

NHL Iron Man Phil Kessel is hoping to hook on with another club after winning his third Stanley Cup with Vegas last season. The 35-year-old is a free agent and wants to continue his career, even if it means ending his consecutive games played streak, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
