The Americans won their five straight in the postseason after rallying from a 2-0 deficit against Syracuse and now hold a commanding 2-0 lead over the Marlies.
Sabres prospect Jiri Kulich gave the Americans the early lead with his fifth goal of the playoffs, but the key moment was a span of 2:15 in the middle frame in which Rochester’s Lukas Rousek, Sean Malone, and Joseph Cecconi scored in rapid succession, chasing Toronto goalie Erik Kallgren.
Malcolm Subban made 34 saves in the win and the Americans have two cracks on home ice to advance to the Eastern Conference Final. Game 3 is on Wednesday and Game 4 (if necessary) is on Friday at Blue Cross Arena.
