The Buffalo Sabres placed Eric Comrie on waivers Sunday, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic. Comrie fell victim to a numbers game, as he dropped to third on the depth chart at the goaltending position.
The move lays out a clear path for Zemgus Girgensons to return to action. Buffalo can now activate Girgensons from injured reserve. Comrie will either claimed by another team or sent down to AHL Rochester after clearing.
Outplayed by both Devon Levi and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen since returning from injury, Comrie hasn’t appeared in a game since December 5th. He has one win and an .863 save percentage this season.
