Sabres Daily: Andlauer Approved As Sens Owner; Zegras Impasse

on

The Ottawa Senators were sold by the estate of Eugene Melnyk to a group headed by billionaire Michael Andlauer for nearly $950 million in June, but the deal was not official until approved by the NHL’s Board of Governors. Andlauer, a former minority owner of the Montreal Canadiens and the OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs, paid the highest price for an NHL franchise and received a unanimous vote from the other 31 owners.

Melnyk’s daughters Anna and Olivia retained 10% ownership of the franchise.

Sabres In Case You Missed It

The Anaheim Ducks and center Trevor Zegras are in the midst of a contract negotiation after the 22-year-old restricted free agent posted his second straight 60+ point season. Reports indicate that Zegras is being offered a bridge deal in the $3-4 million range, while agent Pat Brisson (who also represents Owen Power of the Sabres) is looking a much higher AAV.
