Sabres Daily: Murray To Have Surgery; Stamkos Disappointed

The Toronto Maple Leafs opened training camp on Wednesday and as expected GM Brad Treliving announced that defenseman Jake Muzzin will miss the entire season with a neck injury and revealed that goaltender Matt Murray will be undergoing extensive but unspecified surgery next week and will have a recovery that will be “months, not days or weeks.”

Murray had a variety of injuries with the Leafs last season, limiting him to 26 games, a 14-8-2 record, a 3.01 GAA, and a .903 save percentage.

Tampa Bay captain Steven Stamkos is entering the final year of his contract and indicated over the summer that he wants to finish his career with the Lightning, but on Wednesday indicated his disappointment that the club and his representatives did not have substantive discussions over the summer.
