Sabres Daily: $2 Billion Expansion Fee?; BioSteel Bankruptcy

The NHL is not planning on expanding from 32 teams in the near future, but according to TSN’s Darren Dreger, if the league considers it within the next five years, the price tag could be as much as $2 billion. The Ottawa Senators sale to billionaire Michael Andlauer this summer was reportedly for $950 million, while the expansion fee for the Seattle Kraken in 2021 was $650 million.

BioSteel, who became a primary NHL sponsor last year, filed for bankruptcy in the US and Canada. The company owed to the league in September was not paid and they owe another $12 million between October to March 2024.
