Sabres Daily: Hurricanes Dysfunction; Andlauer Gets Approval

Published

on

The Carolina Hurricanes will be the first NHL club without a full-time American Hockey League affiliate, in part because of their heavy-handed approach with the Chicago Wolves last season. The Wolves chose to go unaffiliated in part because the Hurricanes last season were more interested in developing their prospects over winning and dictated lineups and goaltender starts to their head coach. The Hurricanes have chosen to loan a number of their players to European clubs this season and have also lost their ECHL affiliate Norfolk to the Winnipeg Jets.

Sens Sale Moves Forward

The new ownership group of the Ottawa Senators, headed by Michael Andlauer has been approved by the NHL’s Executive Committee. Andlauer, a minor owner of the Montreal Canadiens and owner of the OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs, was selected from a number of suitors to purchase the Senators from the estate of Eugene Melnyk for $950 million.
