Sabres Daily: Lafreniere Signs Bridge; Dell Signs PTO

It is RFA signing week in the NHL, with training camps opening in less than a month. The Edmonton Oilers got defenseman Evan Bouchard signed to a two-year bridge deal earlier this week and on Wednesday, the New York Rangers signed 2020 first overall pick Alexis Lafreniere to a two-year bridge deal with an AAV of $2.325 million. Lafreniere scored 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists) in 81 games in his third season with New York, who have all their restricted free agents under contract after getting defenseman K’Andre Miller signed to a bridge deal earlier this summer.

Also gaining momentum as training camps approach are players accepting professional tryout contracts. Winger Alex Chiasson accepted a PTO from the Boston Bruins earlier this week and on Wednesday former Sabres goalie Aaron Dell signed a PTO with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Dell played 12 games with Buffalo during the 2021-22 season and play six NHL seasons with the San Jose Sharks and New Jersey Devils.
