The Tampa Bay Lightning continued their practice of locking up players on max contracts, as they announced an eight-year extension for forward Brandon Hagel on Tuesday. The 24-year-old Hagel is a 2016 draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres who made his mark in Chicago in 2021 and scored 30 goals for the Lightning last season.

Hagel will earn $6.5 million per season on a deal that will run through the 2031-32 season.
