Sabres Daily: Krejci Announces Retirement; Fedotov Breached Contract

Published

on

The Boston Bruins lost team captain Patrice Bergeron late last month and as expected, the retirement announcements came in stereo as veteran center David Krejci announced via social media that he is retiring after 16 seasons. The 37-year-old Krejci came back to the NHL last season and scored 56 points (16 goals, 40 assists) in 70 games after playing in Czechia in 2022. The double whammy to retirement leaves the record-breaking Bruins without their top two centers for next season, which will likely make them a bubble team for the playoffs.

Ironically, per Bruins reporter Ty Anderson Bergeron and Krejci are retiring with the same amount of career playoff points (128). Tied for second-most in franchise history.

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced that the contract that goalie Ivan Fedotov signed with the Philadelphia Flyers was valid. Fedotov also signed a deal with CSKA Moscow in the KHL. The IIHF determined that Fedotov breached IIHF International Transfer Regulations when he signed his contract and has been given two weeks to join the Flyers or obtain a release from them, otherwise, he will face further sanctions.
