Sabres Daily: Dumba Signs With Coyotes; Pekar Signs AHL Deal
One of the remaining unsigned impact free agents out there was defenseman Matt Dumba, but mere minutes after the three-way trade involving Erik Karlsson went down the Arizona Coyotes announced the signing of the 29-year-0ld to a one-year deal worth $3.9 million. Dumba came off a career-low 14-point season with Minnesota and like former teammate John Klingberg last season, opted for a short-term deal to reestablish his market value rather than take a longer-term deal for a lesser amount.

Former Sabres prospect Matej Pekar did not receive a qualifying offer from the club at the end of June and was reportedly considering a deal in Czechia, but the 23-year-old has agreed to an AHL deal with the Hartford Wolf Pack (the affiliate of the New York Rangers). Pekar struggled with injuries and inconsistency in Rochester over three seasons, scoring only four goals in 86 games.
