Sabres Daily: Karlsson Deal Imminent?; Pens Add Charron
The logjam created by the Erik Karlsson situation may finally break loose, as Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman is reporting that a deal between the San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins could go down today.
Karlsson has four years left at $11.5 million per season and the hold-up to the deal has been the Sharks reluctance to retain a significant portion of his salary, but Friedman is reporting that one or more clubs could be a part of a larger trade to take on a contract or retain salary.
There is a legit attempt to get an Erik Karlsson trade done today. Would involve Pittsburgh, San Jose and at least one other team to facilitate the cap gyrations. We will see how it plays out…but everyone grinding in that direction.
