Sabres Daily: Washington Locks Up Wilson; Dubas Doing Double Duty

Published

on

The Washington Capitals have locked up winger Tom Wilson on a seven-year, $45.5 million extension ($6.5 Million AAV). The 29-year-old power forward missed the first half of last season recovering from off-season ACL surgery and scored 22 points (13 goals, 9 assists) in 33 games. Wilson is considered a leader and could potentially be a future captain after Alexander Ovechkin retires.

Kyle Dubas took the role of President of Hockey Operations in Pittsburgh after his exodus from the Toronto Maple Leafs in May but left the Penguins GM position open because it was thought he would bring someone else from the Leafs to fill the spot, but earlier this week Dubas added the GM title to his job description. It is likely that this move is for this season and that Dubas will either promote from within or add someone during the season or after next season.
