Sabres Daily: Swayman, Frederic To Arb; Vegas Gets Cleaned Out

The Boston Bruins suffered the loss of team captain Patrice Bergeron to retirement earlier this month, and have close to no cap room to replace him. Last week, the Bruins and representatives for forward Trent Frederic and goalie Jeremy Swayman exchanged offers. Frederic’s hearing is on August 1 and the two sides have until then to reach a settlement, while Swayman’s hearing was held on Sunday and a decision is expected in the next 48 hours.

The Vegas Golden Knights brought the first professional sports championship to Nevada, but it proved to be costly. The Nevada Gaming Board reported that sports books in the state lost $6.6 million on hockey wagers in June because a large segment of bettors wagered on the Golden Knights to win the Stanley Cup over the Florida Panthers.
