Sabres Daily: Johnson’s Leadership Abilities; Sens Sign Tarasenko



The Buffalo Sabres surprised some by getting 2019 first-rounder Ryan Johnson signed after completing his senior season at the University of Minnesota, but according to’s Heather Engel, since signing in late May Johnson has impressed the club with his leadership qualities. The 21-year-old blueliner is expected to play in AHL Rochester next season.

After moving out Alex DeBrincat because he would not sign a long-term extension, the Ottawa Senators signed winger Vladimir Tarasenko to a one-year, $5 million deal. The 31-year-old had 50 points (18 goals, 32 assists) in 69 games with St. Louis and New York last season.
