Sabres Daily: Davies Signed; One Final Mock

The Buffalo Sabres continued to lock up some of their defensive depth in the American Hockey League. After signing blueliner Joseph Cecconi earlier in the week, the club announced the signing of Jeremy Davies to a one-year, two-way deal. Puckpedia reports that the deal will pay Davies the league-minimum $775,000 at the NHL level and $450,000 at the AHL level.

The 26-year-old Quebec native was a 2016 New Jersey Devils draft pick whose rights were traded to Nashville in 2019 in the PK Subban deal. After playing 22 NHL games with the Predators over two seasons, Davies signed with Buffalo and played 66 games for the Rochester Americans, posting 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in 66 games and one game for the Sabres last season.

In Hockey Now’s Mock Draft, the Sabres took WNY product Quentin Musty at #13, but in FloHockey’s final mock draft, Musty fell to the end of the first round and Buffalo takes right-handed Swedish blueliner defenseman Axel Sandin-Pellikka. ASP is expected to be the second or third defenseman to go off the board after David Reinbacher and Dmitri Simashev.
