Sabres Daily: Komarov Signed To ELC; Peterka Powers Germany
The Buffalo Sabres locked up another member of their 2022 Draft class on Thursday with the signing of defenseman Vsevolod Komarov to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The 19-year-old Russian was selected in the fifth round (134th overall) after his first season with the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. Konarov more than doubled his offensive output this season, scoring 39 points (12 goals, 27 assists) in 62 games and is a key part of the Remparts being the Q’s representative in the Memorial Cup.

The quarterfinal round of the 2023 IIHF Worlds Championships in Finland and Latvia on Thursday saw all five Buffalo Sabres players advance to the medal round.
In their 3-1 win over top-seeded Switzerland, winger J-J Peterka scored the game-winning goal late in the second period. In Team Canada’s 4-1 victory over the host Finland, Jack Quinn opened the scoring in the first period. Peyton Krebs had one shot in just over 14 minutes and Devon Levi backed up Montreal’s Samuel Montembeault.
Alex Tuch had three shots on goal in 15:51 in Team USA’s 3-0 win over Czechia.

The tournament will resume on Saturday, with Canada playing the upstart Latvia and Team USA taking on Germany.
