The 35-year-old winger has had his ups and downs throughout his tenure with the Sabres, but found a new role as a veteran leader for a young and promising group over the last few years. On Wednesday, Okposo agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million deal to stay with Buffalo.
“I’m extremely proud to be a part of this group and to see how far we’ve come,” Okposo said in a press release. “We’ve become a team. It started off the ice first and then slowly progressed on the ice. It’s the first time in a long time that I think we can say that.”
The Sabres team captain had 28 points (11 goals,17 assists) in 75 games last season.
