Sabres Daily: Eichel, Reinhart Drawing Closer To Cup Faceoff

The Buffalo Sabres thought when they selected Sam Reinhart and Jack Eichel second overall in 2014 and 2015 that they would be cornerstones of a future Stanley Cup champion. They may have only been half right.

Reinhart has nine points in the postseason, but none was bigger than his helper on Saturday, setting up Matthew Tkachuk for his overtime-winning power-play goal to put the Panthers up 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Final.

Eichel similarly provided the primary assist for the Golden Knights Jonathan Marchessault’s game-tying goal late in the third period of Game 2 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday. Chandler Stephenson scored the game-winner 72 seconds into overtime, giving Vegas a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven series.
