Team Canada opted to play Montreal goalie Samuel Montembeault over Sabres rookie Devon Levi. The Canadians lost to the powerhouse Swiss club recently infused with talent with Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler joining the squad after the New Jersey Devils elimination in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Sabres forward Jack Quinn assisted on Tyler Toffoli’s opening goal and had two shots on goal, but was -1 on the night in 14:37 of ice time. Peyton Krebs had one shot on goal in just under 10 minutes, the lowest time-on-ice of any Canadian player.
