Published

on

In the first of what will be many mock drafts in the next seven weeks leading up to the 2023 NHL Draft in Nashville, NHL.com’s Adam Kimelman and Mike Morreale have the Buffalo Sabres taking big forwards with their pick at #13.

Kimelman has the Sabres selecting winger Matthew Wood from the University of Connecticut, the alma mater of center Tage Thompson. The British Columbia native is big (6’4″, 193 lbs.) and had an excellent freshman season with the Huskies, with 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists) in 35 games and impressed for Canada at the Under-18’s with 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in seven games. Morreale predicted that Buffalo would choose Brandon Wheat Kings center Nate Danielson, who had 33 goals in his 3rd WHL season with Brandon.
