Former Sabres Star Featured in New NHL Docuseries
The producers of the hit series “Drive to Survive” are at it again, this time announcing their plan to release a docuseries following some of the top players in the NHL. Former Sabres center Jack Eichel is among the released list of players, which includes 11 names. The series will appear on Amazon Prime Video.

Eichel is among a star-studded cast. Here’s an excerpt of the announcement, per ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski:
“The series will feature in-depth interviews with key players, their rivals and those in their closest inner circle – teammates, coaches, and family. The series will also reveal what life on-and-off the ice is really like for the league’s top players. From the quiet reflective moments to the speed and intensity of being on hockey’s biggest stage – revealing the talent, grit, and sacrifice it takes to make it in the NHL. Superstar players followed in the series include Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid; Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk; New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba; Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl; Boston Bruins teammates David Pastrnak and Jeremy Swayman; Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes; Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel; Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander; Nashville Predators forward Filip Forsberg; and Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog, among others.”
There’s no date set for the release of the NHL docuseries. This is in part because the camera crews are still following McDavid and Tkachuk in the Stanley Cup Final.
With Eichel’s controversial departure from the Sabres organization, some insight into his day-to-day life and inner circle could be points of interest for Buffalo fans. Done right, the series should give a better perspective of what the Vegas Golden Knights star is all about.
Sabres fans should also get some insight into what they missed out on in 2015 by not winning the draft lottery. By all accounts, McDavid is a consummate professional.
Other interesting storylines include the always-entertaining Tkachuk, the hard-hitting Rangers captain Trouba, and the hard road back from injury for Avs captain Landeskog.
