Sabres Move Game Against Blackhawks to Thursday

The Buffalo Sabres have announced that Wednesday night’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks has been moved to Thursday at 7 pm. With the current weather in the Buffalo area, the move was inevitable.
Lake effect snow accumulating to as much as three feet in some areas has hit Western New York. This has lead to travel bans in the southern part of Buffalo and the city’s adjacent towns. Getting essential workers to the game – let alone fans – would’ve been near impossible given the conditions.
Pushing the game back a day allows for the area to address the snowfall throughout Wednesday. Snow up to 18 to 24 inches is in the day’s forecast, after Western New York is just getting over the blizzard that hit over the weekend.
The move gives the Sabres and Blackhawks another day of rest, as Chicago is coming off a 2-1 shootout victory in their game against the San Jose Sharks Tuesday. Buffalo also last played against the Sharks, shutting them out in a 3-0 win.

Wednesday’s game was supposed to be aired nationally on TNT. The NHL and network will now pivot to the Detroit Red Wings versus the Florida Panthers instead.
