Sabres Daily: Ladd Retires; Heise PWHL Top Pick?

Veteran winger Andrew Ladd announced his retirement on Sunday. The 37-year-old was drafted by Carolina in 2004 and won a Cup with the Hurricanes as a rookie in 2006. He was traded to Chicago in 2008 and was part of the Hawks first championship in 2010, and played with Atlanta/Winnipeg, the NY Islanders, and Arizona over a 17-year career.

PWHL Draft

The inaugural draft for the Professional Women’s Hockey League is scheduled for September 18th in Toronto, and according to Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek, Minnesota with the top overall pick will likely be University of Minnesota forward Taylor Heise.

Heise scored 65 points (29 goals, 36 assists) in 38 games as a senior with the Golden Gophers last season.
