Sabres Daily: Buffalo Rank 128th In Value; Another Arizona Attempt

Published

An article in the sports business website Sportico provided a list of franchise values, and the Buffalo Sabres were ranked 128th in a list of 152 clubs in the NHL, MLB, NBA, NFL and MLS. The Toronto Maple Leafs were ranked the highest among NHL teams (66th – $2.12 billion), while the Sabres were listed at $635 million, ahead of only Carolina, Columbus, Florida, and Arizona and behind eight MLS clubs.

Sabres In Case You Missed It

Just when we thought there was a chance that the dysfunctional Arizona Coyotes saga was over, the current ownership group is making another stab at keeping the franchise in the Grand Canyon State. After a vote to build an NHL-size arena in Tempe went down to defeat in May, Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo has filed a letter of intent to purchase 41 acres of land in nearby Mesa. A complicating factor is that a new arena would likely not be ready for another three years and that would mean staying in Arizona State University’s Mullett Arena until 2026, something that NHL owners and the NHLPA may not be willing to stomach.
