Sabres Daily: First Round Failures #10; Boucher Hired By Leafs
The Buffalo Sabres have had some major successes in the NHL Draft, starting with their first franchise selection of Gilbert Perreault, to Hall-of-Famers Tom Barrasso and Pierre Turgeon, to their most recent top overall picks of Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power, but where there is success, there is inevitably failure and over the next few days, we will chronicle the top 10 first round failures in Sabres history.
#10 Alexander Nylander
In part because of an impressive showing for Team Sweden at the 2015 World Junior replacing injured brother William, and after a 75-point season with the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads, Sabres GM Tim Murray opted to pick the younger Nylander over Mikhail Sergachev at #8 overall.

Nylander played a grand total of 19 games with Buffalo before being traded to Chicago for Henri Jokiharu in 2019, and in six professional seasons, the 25-year-old has played for six professional teams.
