Sabres Daily: Botterill In Mix For Leafs GM?; Canada Advances At Worlds
The Toronto Maple Leafs are casting a wide net in their search for a new GM after firing Kyle Dubas last week. Former Calgary GM Brad Treliving is considered the favorite and has already interviewed for the position, but one name that has been mentioned as a candidate is former Buffalo Sabres GM Jason Botterill.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman mentioned on his recent 32 Thoughts Podcasts that Botterill was on a short list of candidates with previous GM experience. Also mentioned were former Montreal GM Marc Bergevin, ex-Edmonton and Boston GM Peter Chiarelli.
Botterill served as Buffalo’s GM from 2017 to 2020 and was under consideration for the Penguins vacant Team President and GM positions, but everything is on hold with Pittsburgh due to Dubas’ sudden availability.
