Sabres Daily: Reinhart Leads Panthers To Game 3 Victory

Published

Former Buffalo Sabres continue to be prominent in their current club’s pursuit of postseason glory. The Florida Panthers are one game away from reaching the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in 27 years after a 1-0 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final on Monday.

The lone goal in the contest came off the stick of former Sabre Sam Reinhart, who scored his seventh goal of the postseason on a setup from Matthew Tkachuk. Reinhart was pressed into extra duty with Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov leaving the game with an unspecified injury in the first period, playing just over 22 minutes. Brandon Montour led Florida in ice time with 25:27 on the night.

You have to say that the Panthers are leading a charmed life. Florida beat out Buffalo and Pittsburgh for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot by one point and were nearly eliminated by Boston late in regulation in Game 5 on a Brad Marchand breakaway. Since being down 3-1 to the Bruins in the first round, Florida has won 10 of 11 postseason games.
